I've got an account with livejournal, and went to the picture upload page to upload some pictures. I select the file I want to upload and click "upload" ... then the bar at the bottom loads for a few seconds, and finally nothing happens. The pictures just don't get uploaded.
Does anyone know why this is?

Not sure, exactly, but I believe you must be a paid member to upload pictures directly to LiveJournal. Even so, your picture size may be limited to 320 pixels in the largest dimension.
Even though I have the capability, I rarely do it that way. I'm more likely to use a free service like Flickr to upload my photos, right click on the size photo I want in Flickr (their "default" 500 pixels is perfect for LJ), choose "Properties", copy the URL from that window, and paste the URL into my entry.

I need help figuring out some of the terminology used in fanfiction communities in Livejournal?
This question is for anyone who is familiar with posting fanfic on Livejournal. I've joined a femslash community %26amp; want to start posting my own stories to the community, but I don't understand some of the terminology, like "beta" %26amp; some of the ratings they use. Also, HOW do I post my story to one of those communities? If someone could help me out, that would be great :). I feel like I should know this stuff, so I'm embarrassed to ask it openly in the Livejournal community.

It sounds like you are a teenager,,,i think,,,,emotional ups and downs,,,,,it is so hard to go through this period of your life....If your friends are not there when you need them,,,then I think they are not true friends,,,,,,,you will learn this as you are older,,,,alot of teenagers mature quicker than others.....just remember you are best at what you do...no one can do it better than you........doing the right thing in life brings rewards...and they grow as you grow...better and better......if someone does something wrong....know that you are better than them cause you wont do it.........the best is inside you....i hoped i helped.

There used to be a tool that would automatically convert your entire journal to FO, but I can't seem to find it now. You may have to go back and make each one FO by yourself.
As for a FO banner, just create a new entry, paste in the img code, and that's that. It's just like posting a picture.

What's wrong with Livejournal today?
Something's going on with Livejournal.com today... at least on my computer. If I try to go there, or anywhere on there (like a journal, or just the homepage), it says Page Cannot Be Displayed, because of an 'internal server error'.
Does this happen when you try going there? What do you think the problem is?

If you can find files that are hosted on a website (or upload some yourself) just change "your_website_here" to the link you wan to use. Also, I think you can download free programs that let you convert mp3s to ram files.

How can I hide my IP address on LiveJournal?
I am in this community where I don't want my IP address revealed on LiveJournal.com. The person turned on the option which logs a person's IP address when they comment a post. I want to still be in the community, so I need to find a way to hide my IP address when commenting. Is there any software I can get for free that allows me to do this? I think I won't. I have no problem with advertising. And I'm not sure how I would boycott. It's not like I pay for it - stopping the service would only be harmful to me, it wouldn't take dollars out of LJ's pocket.

Myspace has been around for a while so we all know it's pretty good when you need to contact friends orsomething. Facebook, same thing.
And for the "wireless" guy, facebook is for high schoolers also. no middle schoolers though.

I'm not overly sure what I could call this, but... ah well, here goes!
I'm trying to make a site for myself, and I was wondering how I could link to a blog site, like livejournal, in an area of my site. I don't mean hyperlink though. Should I start a LIVEJOURNAL?
Slight dilemma:
Should I start a LIVEJOURNAL? There's a couple points to this question that is causing my indecisiveness.
1 - I'm a writer and I feel like if I had a journal to write in everyday it would keep my skills sharp and in practice.
2 - I like the idea of archiving things that have happened in my life. It's fun to go back and review a journal. In a lot of cases I would have forgotten things that happened and that's a shame.
--- BUT ---
3 - I am a private person with a public persona to protect. I wouldn't want my private business out there in the open for the world to see.

Yahoo is warning me about posting outside of yahoo? (livejournal)?
When I reply to a livejournal message, yahoo tells me i am sending somehting outside of yahoo. It says I can change this in preferences, and I looked but that option is already unticked. I have been using Livejournal this way for a few years now and all of a sudden Yahoo decides to warn me everytime I send a reply? With 30+ messages a day this is going to get very irritating! Any advice?

Why is Six Apart now suddenly deleting accounts on Livejournal without any warning?
Two people on livejournal had their accounts deleted yesterday and Six Apart isn't speaking to the livejournal users about why. There's an article about it in Firefox News, but they're not being very specific either, so does anyone know why Six Apart is doing this AGAIN (it did it already in May, I think)?
Also, what does anyone know about what the EFF or EEF actually does? I keep hearing about it -- I think it stands for Electronic Freedom Frontier, or something, but I'm not sure.

My advice to you is that you should post anything in your Journal for any particular night or day that makes enough impact in either your heart or your mind that remains there long enough to trouble you. Until you get your pen and journal out and put it down in writing, it will trouble your conscience because that is the only place where the words are recorded. Once "written", it tends to give you the freedom you're seeking to put your mind to rest. Believe it or not, this is the very REASON why diaries and journals had their beginning.

My problem started yesterday. Every time I try to go to livejournal, my internet window freezes. I haven't changed or added anything on my computer. Any idea on what's going on or how to fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

Check you firewall setting and that you anti-virus did not block the site.
You can also download another browser (eg Firefox) and see if it works from there, as on my PC I checked and it wont work with Internet explorer, but it does with firefox:)

i am sort of new to a lot of computer things, and most i can figure out, but i can't seem to get how to puts pics on my livejournal...

You cant exactly upload pictures unto your livejournal entries. what you need to do is upload then unto another website, just for uploading pictures, like: www.photobucket.com, and when you upload the pictures there, you copy the line underneath the picture that says "tag" and paste it in you livejournal entry when you're writing it.

How can I change my LiveJournal community comment settings? I want it to be friends-only commenting, but I can't figure it out. Help, please?

How to do This...(for livejournal)?
I've made a layout for livejournal and wish to post it at a community. I've noticed that any such posts usually contain a snapshot of the finished layout and a live preview. I have a PC and don't know how to take a snapshot of a website (and can't really buy any programs or download them for this purpose at the moment). Also I really need to know how to do the live preview...do you just open a new account for it? (i'm not sure but this seemed unlikely to me) So if not, how is it done?
I will definitely appreciate any help, and if anybody can inform me on both my problems then as soon as I see the answer it will be chosen as best answer by me :)

Livejournal vs. Wordpress?
I currently have a livejournal but I am starting to hate LJ because it sucks. The features are all over the place, there's no uniformity, and customization is almost impossible.
I have been thinking about switching to wordpress, but I'm not sure if I should do that or just stick with LJ. Also, if wordpress sucks too, are there any other free blogging sites out there that are good? Thanks

Livejournal S1 layout not showing up properly on my page?
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to add a S1 (or S2... neither of them work) premade livejournal layout to my lj, but the layout doesn't show up. When I use S1, I changed the views to "generator" and put my username wherever the code said to put "yourname".
The side bar is crooked so words spill out of it, and the picture/banner thing on the top doesn't show up.
How do I actually load the layout so it's correct? Thanks in advance!
P.S. Can I add "mood" icons to an S1 layout?

How to redirect a Livejournal blog to a different blog?
I've been trying to use override HTML in the custom options of Livejournal because I don't use Livejournal, but I post comments in various communities. So instead, I want people to be redirected to my actual blog thats not a livejournal blog, when they click my username. This is the code i use under the S1 layout in the custom options portion:

Just set ALL of your entries to Private.
And NO ONE will ever be able to read anything you post.

How do I make the code for a quiz appear in my livejournal. I have the code for livejournal but once I put it in, it shows as the code not the quiz. please help.

I am not aquinted with Live Journal service in particular, but for most social sites/blogs you are not allowed to post HTML code in any field.
This is to prevent bots or spammers from inserting all kinds of advertisements or screwing up the page flow.
Sometimes you have an alternative, called BB code, which looks something like this
[img]http://www.source.com/a.jpg[/img]
instead of
%26lt;img src="http://www.source.com/a.jpg" /%26gt;
So it allows you to do most of the things.
In any case, best of luck, but maybe consider giving more details in your future questions, like what kinda of "code" are you talking about, and where you are putting it.

I know how other's journals %26amp; comuitees have tags usually, but I want to search ALL of LiveJournal for Stock %26amp; Halloween icons, mainly Halloween. Is there a way where I didn't have to look as much?
