For the second time, I'm not able to post an entry in livejournal, I keep trying but it just comes up "Problem loading page"

I've been having the same problem for a while, can only post really short entries. Just had a look around LJ for more info on this problem and found:

Did you leave a comment? I know if you leave a comment on the entry they can use a feature to track the IP address, but other than that I'm almost positive that they can't. Probably only the website owner could do that, and there are A LOT of live journal accounts now. So don't worry you're safe!

Hello, I've had this problem since yesterday. I woke up one morning and tried to access Livejournal sites but all I get is





403 Forbidden


The following error occurred: Access denied by access control list.


Could not open error file





I tried all the computers in my house and I get the same message. I have no idea what I means and I don't think I've done anything wrong! Help please! LJ is my life ):

403 is generally an authentication error.

Sounds like your account has been locked out or if your browser is set to remember passwords, maybe it became corrupted. Given you can't access from multiple computers, likely your account has been locked out or maybe the site is experiencing problems handling authentication.

I'm also experiencing this 403 Forbidden problem. Not only with livejournal.com but also other websites.





While using a proxy may work, it doesn't make sense to have to keep using it in order to access livejournal. That'd mean that the problem is unresolved.





I'm not sure if livejournal can fix this or if there's a way to make this known. I hope our pcs didn't get infected with some virus that somehow causes this 403 Forbidden error to pop up when we try to access certain websites in our browser history/favourites list.

Hi! It's possible you're using the 'Rich Text' format of posting entries, which is why the codes you're copying from Photobucket isn't working. Try clicking on the 'HTML' tab next to 'Rich Text' when you're posting your entry, and then try copy and pasting the html codes from Photobucket again. Note that the html code needs to begin with '%26lt;img src="link to image here including http://"%26gt; for it to show up properly. Hope this helps! :)

Use the icon? : clicking on the icon should allow you to use it.





Add the icons? : You'll probably find the link to the site that the user used to get that list of icons onto their page. All you'll have to do is copy the code, go to your journal profile/layout and paste.

If you just want an lj cut that says "Read More...", then just write %26lt;lj-cut%26gt;. If you want to close that cut and write something else under it that will be seen outside the cut, then close it with %26lt;/lj-cut%26gt; and create another one under it too.





If you want the cut to say something, then write


%26lt;lj-cut text="write whatever you want here that's the subject"%26gt;


and you don't need to write anything after if that's all you want.

I started using livejournal again and I was looking up some layouts on the internet and I found some that I liked. However, when I paste the code that the layout I want provides, the pictures and all that jazz don't come up and the position of my journal entries are all messed up and out of place. Actually, you don't have to be a paid member to alter your page. You can sign up for a basic account and alter your page to some extent, just don't sign up for the free plus account because you'll have ads all over your page. createblog.com has some really good layouts for livejournal, myspace, xanga, and websites.
Reply:You have to be a paid member to edit CSS style sheets and layers, but technically I suppose it would be possible....if you're a free or ad supported user you have to use whatever themes they give you.

Yes, it's a table. If you go to the site and right-click, then left-click on the option that says "view page source", it'll open a new window with the source code in it. Then you just scroll down until you get to the right part of the code and you can see exactly what they did.





It looks like they used one row with three columns and turned the cell black and the text white with this code:





%26lt;td style="color:#ffffff;text-align:center;b...





Just repeat that three times, changing the color and the number.





Then the next column they just put in the img source for the icon. If you're trying to do this same thing, be sure to put the border="0" option or it'll put a border around the icon.

choose any one of the layouts that come up.


then go to the Customize Your Theme option.

There might be a setting under the customize option. You might be able to tell it that you don't want a calendar there. And if your layout doesn't support that, there might be another that does.

Probably been asked about a million gazillion times, but anyone not being able to access livejournal right now?





I can access any other pages on the web, just not livejournal. It's not forbidden or anything, just 'Failed to open page' - it failed to connect to server.


I'm using Safari on a Macbook, but just now have also tried accessing LJ using Opera and IE... any ideas?

In order for you to leave a comment on their page, THEY have to add you to their friend's list. Generally I would send them a message and ask for them to add you as a friend.





HOWEVER


I went to the link and it looks like this person you are wanting to add has several other people adding them as a friend, but has very few mutual friends. It also appears that they may be a famous person so they prolly want to keep people from writing nasty/stupid comments on their entries.





Your "friends" section means the people you have added or that the person has. "friends of" means MUTUAL friends. People that are on eachothers list. Just cos you add someone, doesn't mean they will add you back.
