How can I hide my IP address on LiveJournal?

I am in this community where I don't want my IP address revealed on LiveJournal.com. The person turned on the option which logs a person's IP address when they comment a post. I want to still be in the community, so I need to find a way to hide my IP address when commenting. Is there any software I can get for free that allows me to do this? Or any cheap software that allows me to do this? That will let me hide my IP or make a fake one up? Thanks.

Reply:You can't. When you connect to their servers they log your IP address. It works "kinda" like caller ID on a phone but you have no way of blocking your IP.

In addition:





1/. If you have a dynamic IP address, it will change from time to time.





2/. If you have a static IP address, it will be the same each time. Mind you, some ISP's proxy static IP's, and some ISP's give you this as an option... by using a proxy, your real IP address is hidden to a point when browsing.





As you can see. Both of the above are not foolproof ways to track you. However, there are other ways, by storing client variable cookies on your machine, or storing client variables in their registry/database. Not sure if they can grab your unique MAC ID though. Have never looked this up.
